The History of SoH
The seed was initially planted when the wife a local physician noticed a small boy alone in the street, day after day begging for money and smoking cigarettes. She decided to take him home. Over the course of a few years she and others realized that Soddo was home to thousands of street children, needing shelter, food, clothing, education, and the care of adults who loved them. Thus the vision of a foster home began.
In May of 2002, Seeds of Hope opened. By May of 2003, over 25 children lived in the rented facility located along one of the main streets in town. Thanks to the work of Dr Romeo Bachand and the donations of hundreds of individuals, the new building was erected and opened in September of 2005, complete with flushing toilets and electricity!
Now 42 children, most orphans of HIV/AIDS victims have hope for a new life.
